Real Life, Real Stories: Gemma
Marrying in the summer of 2019, Gemma shares her Real Life Real Story about her charming wedding set in vineyards of The Bellarine. Her beautiful bridal party wore our Alex Dress that showcased how a non-traditional black tone is a striking choice.
Gemma shot the wedding photos prior to the ceremony in the rural town of Drysdale, which sits in the centre of The Bellarine and is surrounded by lush farmlands planted with vines and vegetation. With a rich history of natural land, Gemma used the beautiful backdrop of the bushland to showcase her bridal party.
She held her ceremony and reception at the Jack Rabbit Vineyards, which overlooks the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula. Showcasing a tranquil yet exciting local spot, the ceremony was held outside in front of the vines and overlooking the water.
Gemma went for a simple yet modern colour scheme - black and dusty rose. She added subtle hints of rose gold detailing throughout her wedding. Incorporating it in her tablescape, the rose gold sparkled on the candles, on her customised marble coasters, and on the menus, which let the shimmering rose gold play against the black.
The opulent tones of pinks stood out in her floral ensemble that flourished throughout the ceremony and reception - and even on the cake! Ivory, cream, dusty rose pink and peach tones with chrysanthemum’s, hydrangeas, carnations, roses and dahlias created a breathtaking and voluminous floral arrangement that decorated the ceremony and reception area for a lush reception. She used a wooden arch decorated with a floral ensemble that framed an unforgettable ceremony.
For a bold statement that embraced the versatility of the classic black tone, Gemma chose our Alex Dress in black for her bridesmaids' dresses. Opting for a non-traditional colour that was in line with her colour scheme, her bridal party was able to accentuate the Alex dress with neutral-toned heels and large trailing bouquets decorated with blush pink, ivory and peach tones with native greenery. The black hue contrasted beautifully against her white wedding dress.
Gemma shared with us how she negotiated shopping for different body shapes to ensure they found the perfect dress that worked for every bridesmaid. Gemma and her bridal party booked accommodation in Melbourne for the weekend, where she was able to shop for her bridal dress and the bridesmaids all at once. “With four bridesmaids, including one who lived interstate, finding a time we could all meet for dress shopping was tricky,” she said.
“We visited countless stores and tried on many designs, but with four varied figures, there were some styles that suited some more than others.” The Alex boasts an off-the-shoulder neckline and a flared skirt for volume and shape, so this dress is perfect for every body shape!
“We discovered Montique through Myer, and we fell in love with the Alex dress. It was classic and beautiful but still so modern and fit with our theme,” Gemma said. Selected styles are available inside Myer, and we proudly have our own staff and space for you to feel most comfortable when shopping for your next dress.
The Alex dress was a flawless choice for Gemma’s colour scheme and showcased each bridesmaid beautifully. With textured floral tulle embroidery, we have just released the Alex with intricate gold detail!
